People took nearly 1.18 million tourist trips in Harbin during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, according to information from Harbin tourism committee.
Revenue generated during the holiday hit nearly 1 billion yuan ($155.1 million), a year-on-year increase of 17.7 percent.
The three-day break, which lasted from June 16 to 18, is a traditional Chinese festival highlighting folk activities and traditional delicacies — for example, zongzi, a pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves, is traditionally eaten during the festival
Landmarks of Harbin, including Sun Island scenic spot, Harbin Central Avenue and the downtown Harbin section of Songhua River, proved the most popular choices for travelers over the holiday period.
