China Railway Harbin Co will add 26 trains to its existing services from Harbin, capital of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, to popular summer tourism destinations and big cities, to cope with the rise in passenger numbers during the summer holiday travel rush, from July 1 to Aug 31.
The services are mainly targeted at university students, tourists and businesspeople.
The additional trains include high-speed trains running from Harbin to Beijing, Dalian, Shenyang and Qiqihar; as well as ordinary trains to Daqing, Shanhaiguan, Hailar, Manzhouli, Mohe, Jiamusi, Mudanjiang and Bei’an.
In addition, to provide convenience for tourists heading to Mohe, Genhe, Mangui, Hailar and Yichun, special “Longjiang Zhixing” tourist trains will operate.
The train stations in the Harbin area – Harbin Railway Station, Harbin North Railway Station, Harbin East Railway Station and Harbin West Railway Station –- are anticipated to accommodate approximately 23.51 million passengers over the 62-day period, representing a year-on-year increase of 1.5 percent.
Peak passenger flow for a day is estimated to reach 430,000 passengers.
