Construction of the Harbin-Mudanjiang High-Speed Rail Line enters its final stage, People.cn reported in Harbin on Sept 7.

Around 1,000 construction workers were assembled to conduct intense adjustment of the tracks in the section linking Harbin Railway Station to Taipingqiao Railway Station on Sept 7, laying a solid foundation for trial operations.

Track laying on the Harbin-Mudanjiang High-Speed Rail Line was completed on May 10 with the installment of a 500-meter long rail at the exit of Aimin Tunnel.

The 300-kilometer line links Harbin with Mudanjiang –– a city on the Russian border. It will connect to the Russian border areas through the Suifenhe port.

The new line will have 11 stations, including Harbin station, Xinxiangfang north station, A’che north station, Maoer Mountain station, Shangzhi south station and Yabuli west station.

Upon completion, the new line will shorten the current journey time to around one hour, as it can accommodate trains traveling at speeds of up to 250 kilometers per hour.

Once the line is complete it is expected to increase trade and economic activity between China and Russia, as well as helping to rejuvenate the old Northeast China industrial base.
