Harbin forum calls for integration of big data, AI and education

A forum promoting integration of big data and artificial intelligence (AI) industries with education took place in Harbin's “China Cloud Valley” on Nov 24.

Experts and scholars in the fields of big data and AI shared the latest achievements and introduced a plan on how to improve education in the two fields while taking into consideration human resources challenges and the reform of high-tech enterprises.

Wang Hongzhi, professor of Harbin Institute of Technology, Wang Jinqiao, a Pattern Recognition State Key Laboratory researcher from Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chen Xinhe, secretary-general of Zhongguancun Big Data Industry Alliance, also shared their opinions on other hot topics surrounding big data at the forum.

In accordance with the plan for setting up education in these fields, a big data college jointly-established by HIT Big Data Group and Heilongjiang Vocational Institute of Ecological Engineering unveiled its nameplate at the forum.

Xu Qingfu, vice president of Heilongjiang Vocational Institute of Ecological Engineering noted that three majors are offered, namely "big data technology and application", "intelligent forestry technology" and "environmental information technology", in a bid to cultivate skilled-workers for the big data industry.

The forum was sponsored by HIT Big Data Group and organized by Heilongjiang Vocational Institute of Ecological Engineering, the education department of HIT Big Data Group, Small and Middle-sized Enterprises Development and Cooperation Promotion Center, and Shenzhen Capital Group Co.
