Harbin carnival park opens on frozen Songhua River

A carnival park made entirely out of ice and snow on the frozen Songhua River in Harbin, Heilongjiang province opened to the public on Jan 1.

The park is a public benefit project organized by Harbin Modern Group Co. to promote winter tourism in the northern city.

It occupies an area of 100,000 square meters and feature six different areas for 36 ice and snow entertainment activities.

Around 5,000 cubic meters of ice and 10,000 cubic meters of snow were cut and delivered to the park for the building work.

Additional facilities such as skating rinks, snow soccer fields and ice hockey rinks were also built using the ice.

The park features an 130 meters ice slide, which extends from Stalin Park to the frozen Songhua River.

Tourists will have free access to the park and will be provided with winter sports equipment.

Harbin ramps up childcare services

A new comprehensive service center for childcare in Harbin is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
