A new rail testing product developed by CRRC Zhuzhou Institute Co was used in Harbin on Jan 16, with the aim of testing rail vehicles operating in extreme cold.

The new intelligent track vehicle is powered by electricity and has virtual track following ability on the move, integrating the advantages of modern trams and buses.

The vehicle is designed for a maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour, with a minimum turning radius of 15 meters.

The product was relatively cheap to develop, lasts well, and can be made quickly.

However, the Harbin test is the first time the vehicle has been used in a city with an unusually cold climate.

On this occasion it was used to test braking, stability, steering, speed, and battery performance at low temperatures.
