A volunteer campaign to mark the 56th “Learn from Lei Feng Day” took place at Ankang Nursing Home in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, on March 5.
The event, which falls every year on March 5th, commemorates a legendary Chinese soldier called Lei Feng (1940-1962).
Lei became famous following his death in a car accident when Chairman Mao Zedong called on everyone in the country to learn from his example of hard work and selflessness.
More than 200 volunteers in Harbin participated in the campaign, donating daily necessities and keeping elderly people company while helping them complete daily chores.
Dancing, singing and recitations also took place to entertain the residents of the nursing home.
