High goals advocated at China science association summit

The 21st Annual Meeting of the China Association for Science and Technology -- a platform to strengthen international scientific research and cooperation -- kicked off in Harbin, capital city of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, on June 29.

Sponsored by the government of Heilongjiang province and the China Association for Science and Technology, the meeting had the slogan: “Reform and Opening-up, Innovation Leading -- science and technology boosts the rejuvenation of Northeast China region ”.

The event had three major sections: science and technological innovation, the revitalization of the northeastern China region and the recruitment of top international professionals to the region. It organized a total of 35 activities including a regional coordination development forum, a digital economy forum, an information technology forum, as well as a cross-Straits, Hong Kong and Macao green development youth forum.

Around 6,000 scientific researchers, business representatives, experts and scholars from China, the US, Russia, the United Kingdom and Japan were invited to attend the event.

Wang Gang, chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, hosted the opening ceremony of the annual meeting and advocated that the global academic community should expand free and equal academic exchanges, strengthen communications and cooperation, and jointly contribute to the human civilization.

Wang Wentao, governor of Heilongjiang province and Ryoji Noyori, the winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, as well as Xue Qikun, vice president of Tsinghua University, delivered reports to the opening ceremony and discussed the subjects of 5G technology and future development.

Harbin ramps up childcare services

A new comprehensive service center for childcare in Harbin is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
