The fall schedule for power grid maintenance in Harbin in northeastern Heilongjiang province kicked off on Sept 4, according to information released by Harbin Electricity Co, a subsidiary of the State Grid.
The maintenance program will focus on the power grid in the downtown area of Harbin, as well as its eight districts and cities. It aims to guarantee electrical safety and support construction of high-speed railway lines in the area.
Harbin Electricity Co is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 103 substations and 20 power lines.
Handling the heavy grid load will be the biggest challenge to carrying out maintenance this year, according to a manager of the company.
The maintenance program will run through a 60-day period and conclude on Oct 30.
A spokesman said Harbin Electricity Co was committed to providing better electricity services for central heating and important winter tourism activities in Harbin.
