An art exhibition to boost cultural exchanges between China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea kicked off in Harbin, capital city of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, on Oct 10.

Around 100 oil paintings by 20 artists from North Korea -- as well as Korean stamps, books and pictures -- are on display.

The organizers said the exhibition has a purpose-built situational layout, which allows visitors to admire exhibits featuring European and Chinese interior decoration styles and other styles.

In addition to the exhibition, an oil painting appreciation lecture was held after an opening ceremony on Oct 10.

The event is being sponsored by Heilongjiang Radio and TV Station and the General Directorate of Foreign Exhibitions of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and North Korea.
