The visually stunning World Joy City -- a unique entertainment complex in Harbin New Zone in Harbin in Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province -- started operations on Oct 18, according to officials.

The entertainment facility provides one-stop services including sightseeing, shopping, dining, entertainment and accommodation.

It is made up of 32 castles built in 13 western architectural styles, 100 fashion shops, 14 exotic squares, nine theme halls and 2,000 five-star hotel rooms. The total floorage area of the entertainment facility is some 300,000 square meters.

The highlights of World Joy City include the Italy Pavilion -- which covers an area of 4,000 sq m and boasts a 5D cinema and a theater -- and a German Pavilion with a beerhall theme, where tourists can see for themselves the complete process of producing beer.

Additionally, the operator of the entertainment facility is planning to stage 60 festivals featuring exotic cultures every year.

The construction of World Joy City started in 2017. It has received a total investment of more than 3 billion yuan ($424 million) from Beijing-headquartered Linda Group.

A celebration to mark the opening of the entertainment facility was held on Oct 18. It was attended by Zhang Wanping, vice mayor of Harbin; Zhang Lina, director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and Hang Yan, chairman of Beijing Linda Group.
