A cargo plane carrying 74 tons of parcels took off from Harbin Taiping International Airport at 4:19 pm on Nov 26, with a final destination of Yekaterinburg in Russia.

The plane, running regularly between Harbin and Yekaterinburg, serves the fast e-commerce channel that has developed between China and Russia.

The e-commerce trade between China and Russia has shown a rising growth trend since the approval of the establishment of the China (Heilongjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone by the State Council, or China’s Cabinet, on Aug 2.

As of November 26, Harbin airport handled a total of 106 cargo flights to Russia, for a year-on-year increase of 24.71 percent; and the cargo shipment volume was 172,200 pieces weighing 28.22 tons, an increase of 74.11 percent and 56.12 percent respectively.

Officials said the rapid-growth e-commerce volume has contributed to the trade and economic exchanges between China and Russia.
