Harbin, capital city of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, launched a campaign on Nov 25 to fight against illegal hunting in the Siberian Tiger and Leopard National Park.

The campaign will last about five months, running to April next year.

During the period, policemen and forest patrolmen will patrol the park every day to search and dismantle traps and decoys set up by hunters.

"After the heavy snowfall, animal activities are very frequent. It’s the time when hunting traps will appear, ” said Qi Zhengchen, a forest patrolman of the Hongqi Forest Farm -- a part of the Siberian Tiger and Leopard National Park.

Since being included into the Siberian Tiger and Leopard National Park, more and more illegal hunters have begun to set up traps in Hongqi Forest Farm, which is making things tougher for the patrolmen to do their job, said Shi Yumin, director of the forest farm.
