A training carrying 4,450 tons of coal recently arrived at the Jieneng Thermal Power Plant in Harbin New Zone in Harbin, Heilongjiang province after traveling on a special newly completed rail line in the zone.

The cargo marked the start of operations for the first rail line built to exclusively serve the Harbin New Zone.

Officials said the operation of the coal rail line will greatly ease the pressures to ship coal for heating to the zone and further improve the transportation infrastructure there.

Jieneng Thermal Power Plant Co started construction of the line in August 2015 with a total investment of 180 million yuan ($25.53 million).

The line runs from Jiangbei Miaotaizi Railway Station east to the coal unloading yard on the north side of the Jieneng Thermal Power Plant, officials said, adding that the entire line is 1.05 km long.
