Harbin Taiping International Airport will add around 900 flights to meet the travel demands of passengers during the Chinese Spring Festival travel rush, which lasts around 40 days starting on Jan 10, according to airport officials.

They said that the added flights mainly connected Harbin to Shanghai, Guangzhou, Sanya, Haikou, Tianjin, Shenzhen and Hefei.

Meanwhile, a number of airlines put widebody aircraft such as the Boeing 787 and Airbus A330 into use to serve the Harbin-Beijing, Harbin-Shanghai, Harbin-Sanya and Harbin-Shenzhen flights. The moves were made by China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, Hainan Airlines and Shanghai-headquartered Juneyao Airlines.

Harbin Taiping International Airport is the largest airport in the Northeast China region.

Currently, 53 airlines operate at Harbin airport, including 37 domestic airlines and 16 overseas airlines.

More than 1,500 flights every week link Harbin to 113 destinations at home and aboard via 201 flight routes.
