A total of 1,000 sets of protective clothing and 800 medical goggles were recently donated by the city of Harbin, capital of China’s northernmost Heilongjiang province, to its sister city of Uzice in Serbia, according to local officials.
 
They said donations, which were made to help in the fight against the novel coronavirus epidemic, successfully arrived at their destination.
 
Tihomir Petkovic, mayor of Uzice, expressed his gratitude to Harbin for helping out during this most difficult time.
 
Harbin and Uzice established sister city relations on Nov 30, 2018, during an official visit to Serbia by a Harbin government delegation.
 
Since the outbreak, Harbin has received help and support from its sister city.
 
In February this year, during the critical period of battle against the outbreak in Harbin, Uzice donated 20,000 medical surgical face masks.
 
The city mayor also specially recorded a video to convey condolences and wishes of the people of Uzice to the people of Harbin.
