To cope with the increasing passenger flows for the summer holidays, Harbin-headquartered Longjiang Airlines will launch a new flight linking Harbin in China’s northernmost Heilongjiang province to Urumqi in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, starting on July 10.

A company spokesman said the Harbin-Lanzhou-Urumqi flight will be served by an Airbus 320 and is scheduled to operate daily.

The new service will operate using the flight number LT4321/2.

The flight departs Harbin Taiping International Airport at 6:20, stopping in Lanzhou in Northwest China’s Gansu province for one hour and arriving in Urumqi at 13:45.

After a 105-minute stop at Urumqi Diwopu International Airport, the return flight takes off at 15:30 , arriving in Lanzhou at 18:20,  before finally arriving in Harbin at 22:30 .

Tickets for the service have gone on sale and preferential ticket prices have been introduced. A single ticket from Harbin to Lanzhou is only 550 yuan ($78.53) and a single trip from Harbin to Urumqi is 999 yuan.

Officials said the new service will play an important role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the Northeast China and Northwest China regions, especially with implementation of the central government's strategy of supporting Xinjiang and helping Xinjiang's economy to prosper.
