Harbin New Zone will cooperate with Taiwan-funded Longwan Innovation Investment Center (Shenzhen) Co to establish a green food deep processing industrial park in Harbin, the capital city of China’s northernmost Heilongjiang province.

The collaboration was announced at the 2020 Cross-Straits Ecological Agriculture and Green Food Technology and Industry Cooperation Seminar held on Oct 28.

The industrial park will promote the integration of cross-Straits high-end ecological agriculture and green food industry chain resources, carry out joint research and development, and foster and incubate Taiwan-funded enterprises.

The park will also industrialize joint production through the Cross-Straits Ecological Agriculture and Green Food Technology and Industry Cooperation Alliance.

The green food industrial park will build an international and domestic marketing platform to help companies on both sides of the straits solve market problems and comprehensively improve their branding, technical level and industrial competitiveness.

An investment of 5 billion yuan ($739.65 million) has been secured for the park’s development, and construction is expected to begin next year.

Construction of the industrial park will be divided into two phases. The first phase will involve constructing a green food deep processing park, and the second phase will build such facilities as the Taiwan Farmers’ Entrepreneurship Park, a biological strain R&D and production plant and an agricultural waste recycling and environmental protection plant.

When the industrial park begins operations, it will organize 120 Taiwan enterprises involved in biotechnology, deep processing of green food and ecological agriculture to establish an industry platform that meets global standards, with international team management and sales models.
