The PLA Military Institute of Engineering Memorial in Harbin was recently named a national patriotism education demonstration base by the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The list was announced on June 19 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, which falls on July 1.

The memorial was built by the Harbin Engineering University on the original site of the PLA Military Institute of Engineering on May 13, 2011, and officially opened to the public for free on Aug 31, 2013.

It is a historical exhibition hall that collects, researches, and displays cultural relics and showcases the development of the PLA Military Institute of Engineering and its training of talents and scientific research achievements.

The memorial is currently home to a total of 530 national-level cultural relics.

In addition to accepting visits by students at the Harbin Engineering University during school entrance education and national defense education month, the memorial is also cooperating with bodies such as the Party School of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee and elementary and middle schools to promote the history, culture, and traditions of the PLA Military Institute of Engineering.

The memorial is open from 9:00 - 16:00, every Tuesday to Sunday.
