Mafengwo.com - a travel website popular with China's young generation - recently released a list of the top 10 hottest cities for New Year's Day 2022. Harbin ranked eighth thanks to its ice and snow tourism.
 
Data from mafengwo.com showed that since the beginning of winter, the post-1990 generation has accounted for 44.1 percent of tourists who paid attention to Harbin.  The tourists mainly came from the first-tier cities Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen and from Harbin itself.
 
From the youth tourism data, a four-day trip in Harbin accounted for 56 percent of all trips, and the cost of a single trip ranged between 2000 yuan ($314) and 5000 yuan for more than half of all trips.
 
It can be seen that with the upgrading of consumption, young people paid more attention to travel experience and were more willing to pay for higher quality products and services.
 
It was one of the popular ways for young people to travel in winter to experience authentic ice and snow tourism with friends. They paid the highest attention to scenic spots with the winter theme. Harbin Ice and Snow World ranked first followed by Yabuli Ski Resort.
 
In addition to the New Year's Day list, Harbin appeared as well on other travel lists. Harbin topped the list of the hottest winter travel destinations in 2021, while Yabuli Ski Resort topped the list for the top winter ski resorts in 2021.
