Antarctic chinstrap penguin lands in Harbin

This is the first time that this species of penguin has come to Heilongjiang province.
The chinstrap penguin gets its name from the black stripe under its head, which appears like the chinstrap of a naval officer. It is a very rare Antarctic penguin.

In order to welcome its arrival, Harbin Polar Park expanded the penguin island to simulate the environment of Antarctica.
Harbin Polar Park currently has four species of penguin: king penguin, white-browed penguin, chinstrap penguin and spot-billed penguin.
In the second half of 2022, Harbin Polar Park will build its fifth largest venue - Explore the Antarctic Penguin Pavilion – introduce more types of penguins, and strive to become a well-known penguin science, research and education base of Heilongjiang province.
