The three-day event will run until Aug 12 both online and offline.
It is co-hosted by the Heilongjiang Provincial People's Government, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The convention consists of four sections for international cooperation, 5G and digital industry, technology foresight, and 5G + industry application, as well as 14 sub-forums and themed seminars.
It aims to showcase 5G technological progress and product innovation in the form of conferences, exhibitions, competitions and investment negotiations and build a bridge for cross-regional industrial collaboration.
At the grand opening ceremony held on Aug 10, State Councilor Wang Yong delivered a speech, saying that 5G technology, as a key driver of the development of the digital economy, is accelerating the impact and promotion of the global digital transformation process.
China will accelerate the improvement of 5G infrastructure, strengthen technological innovation, enrich and expand application scenarios, and promote the deep integration of digital technology and the real economy to provide strong support for the building of a new development pattern and promoting high-quality development.
Wang also pointed out that China will adhere to the principle of extensive consultation, joint contributions and shared benefits to deepen international exchange and cooperation in network construction, standard formulation, R&D application and talent training so as to incentivize Chinese and foreign enterprises to jointly participate in China's 5G development.
