In the run-up to National Day on Oct 1, Harbin -- capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province -- has been festooned with colorful flowers and decorated with greening to create a buoyant and festive atmosphere.
 
Information from the Harbin urban management bureau shows that the areas decorated with festive landscapes now cover 37.68 hectares in total. Nearly 60 groups of graceful flowers and landscape features have been used in the decorations.
   
The various landscape features incorporate such design elements as red flags, five-pointed stars, ribbons, auspicious clouds, city silhouettes and red lanterns.
 
The People's Square in the Harbin New Area, the Flood Control Memorial Tower, Yinyue Park and Daoli district and the interaction of Ershuiyuan Road are among the decorative highlights.
