The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) officially kicked off in the national capital Beijing on Oct 16.
 
A report of the 19th CPC Central Committee to the 20th CPC National Congress was delivered, which triggered an enthusiastic response, studying and much discussion among people involved in rural affairs in Harbin, capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province.
  Over the past 10 years, three major events had happened: first, the ushering in of the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China; second, socialism with Chinese characteristics entered a new era; and third, the historical task of fighting poverty and building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way was completed.
 
In Harbin, during the period some 71,683 poverty-stricken rural residents from 34,728 households were lifted out of poverty.
