Harbin snow sculpture expo ready for operations

The 35th Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo began trial operations on Dec 20 in Harbin, the capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province.
The expo provides tourists with a variety of experiences, from snow sculptures to winter games and local culture.
This year's expo has the theme "Capital of Ice and Snow, Snow Dream", and covers an area of 1.54 million square meters. The main core area is 1.3 million sq m, and the activity area on the frozen river is 240,000 sq m.
A total of 105,000 cubic meters of snow has been used to build more than 160 snow sculptures. Among them is the main snow sculpture called "Dream Chasing". It is 100 meters long and 33 meters high, and was completed by 70 sculptors in nearly 10 days by using 26,000 cu m of snow.

Compared with previous events, this year's expo design is a combination of snow sculptures, plastic art and garden landscape art. Its aesthetics are a combination of nature and humanistic characteristics.
In addition to the core exhibition area, more ice and snow activity areas and competition areas have been added.
