According to meteorological forecasts, Typhoon Khanu will have a significant impact on certain areas of Northeast China's Heilongjiang province.

The provincial capital of Harbin has formulated emergency plans, identified potential risks, reinforced river banks, and accelerated repairs of flood-damaged roads, with the aim of minimizing the potential effects of the typhoon.

Previous heavy rainfall resulted in varying degrees of damage to roads within the jurisdiction of Jingpu village in Shangzhi. Among them, a 300-meter-long section on the western side of the village was washed away, causing great inconvenience for nearby residents.

In response, more than 20 people from the village were mobilized to use over 800 cubic meters of stones to repair this road segment.

As of Aug 10, all of the water-damaged village roads and access roads have been fully repaired, and traffic has resumed.

Jiang Xingwang, the Party secretary of Jingpu village, said the next step will be to continue repairing flood-damaged rural roads, striving to complete all such work as soon as possible.

Jiang Yingnan, head of the comprehensive division of the Wuchang emergency management bureau, said there is currently an ample stock of disaster relief materials, and staff members are on standby 24 hours a day, ready to be deployed to towns in need at any time.

Meanwhile, the flood control material warehouse is well-stocked with items such as colored cloths and woven bags. Before the flooding started, the emergency management department had pre-positioned flood-control materials in towns in need.

Doing its bit, Daowai district has established 10 working groups for flood assessment, emergency rescue, population evacuation, stability assistance, traffic and public security management, and logistical support. Monitoring and early warning measures are also in place, while safety reinforcements are being implemented.

Additionally, the Harbin Forest Fire Brigade dispatched 200 soldiers, 24 vehicles, and more than 20 boats on Aug 10. They split up to carry out pre-positioning missions in the main urban area of Shangzhi, Qingyang, and Yabuli to combat the impact of the typhoon.
