The 8th China (Harbin) International Western Food Culture Festival, hosted by the China Hotel Association and the Harbin municipal government, kicked off on Harbin Central Avenue in the capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province on Aug 24.
The festival will run for five days until Aug 28.
With the theme of "enjoying the summer in Harbin and tasting delicacies", this year's festival is launched against the backdrop of restoring and expanding consumer demand and innovating consumption scenarios.
It serves as an important measure to boost the recovery of the catering and tourism industries in Harbin while also ramping up confidence in dining consumption.

The festival is committed to promoting Harbin's western food culture, injecting new vitality into the local catering industry, and playing a positive role in building the city's brand as a culinary capital.
It aims to promote the deep integration of the catering, culture, and tourism industries, and showcase Harbin's charm as "China's Western Food Capital".
In 2017, with the support of the China Hotel Association, Harbin was awarded the honorary title of "China's Western Food Capital".
