Holidays fire up Harbin's tourism market

The just concluded eight-day Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays set ablaze the cultural tourism market in Harbin, capital of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province.
 
With a whopping year-on-year increase of 512.5 percent, the city welcomed an astounding 8.28 million visits during this period. Tourism revenue skyrocketed to 5.48 billion yuan ($751 million), an immense 347.9 percent surge compared to the same period last year.
 
During the travel rush, the Harbin Taiping International Airport completed 3,513 airlifts, representing an increase of 124.9 percent year-on-year. Passenger throughput ended up at around 520,327, which is 186 percent more than in the same period of the previous year.

The transportation department of Harbin managed to serve approximately 3.17 million passengers with an average daily delivery of 396,500 passengers, increasing year-on-year growth by more than 400 percent.
 
During the holidays, all primary citywide tourism spots exhibited promising operating conditions and were visited by around 744,169 people. Among them, the Sun Island Scenic Area alone attracted 285,549 visitors, whereas Harbin Sunac Park attracted 123,155 tourists.
 
These figures indicate that Harbin's not only continues to attract visitors but also ensures a thriving tourism market through promising growth.
