With the increasing severity of global climate change and environmental issues, low carbon and environmental protection have become focal points of public concern.
In regards to renovations on venues for the upcoming Asian Winter Games, green construction has been integrated throughout the entire design, construction, and utilization process. This not only ensures environmental conservation, but also promotes the city's sustainable development.
It is understood that this edition of the Asian Winter Games has adopted a strategy of renovating existing buildings, with all venues being transformed from old structures. This approach conserves resources as well as reduces the generation of construction waste.
In terms of design, Liu Danyang, a designer from Architecture Design and Research Institute of HIT, expressed that the design team maximized the use of natural light and airflow, which reduces reliance on artificial lighting and ventilation systems.
By following this approach, technologies such as fiber optic sensing, precise control of venue energy consumption, intelligent curtains to reduce daytime lighting carbon emissions, and low-radiation membrane materials for energy-saving ceilings have been installed throughout the venues. These measures effectively reduce carbon emissions and ensure the recycling of event resources.
In terms of material selection, the design team has opted for eco-friendly furniture, adding natural elements such as plants, and utilizing energy-saving equipment and environmentally friendly materials to minimize energy consumption.
Regarding the implementation of low carbon environmental protection during the construction process, Qin Xulin, the project manager of the Harbin Ice Hockey Stadium, emphasized the strict selection and management of materials used in the venue renovation process, ensuring transparency and traceability.
Furthermore, energy-efficient products such as LED lighting fixtures, air conditioning units, air curtains, and efficient pumps, which can save a significant amount of energy compared to traditional equipment, will be utilized in the construction of various venues, ensuring their efficient operation.
Additionally, in an interview, Lyu Wei, deputy general manager of the Heilongjiang Branch of China United Network Communications Limited and representative of the Information Technology Department of the Asian Winter Games Organizing Committee, expressed that China Unicom will strive to infuse the Asian Winter Games with technological advancements.
Lyu explained that China Unicom is committed to creating a "cloud-based, technological, intelligent, green, digital, and secure" Asian Winter Games. It will do this by achieving five major upgrade breakthroughs in network, digital intelligence, technology, security, and protection.
Furthermore, to meet the needs of spectators, athletes, and referees within the venues, China Unicom will employ three-carrier aggregation (3CC) technology and 5G-A technology on a large scale, ensuring a better wireless internet service experience for users within the venues.
