The 19th World Championship among men and 10th World Championship among women in Fire and Rescue Sport kicked off on Saturday in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, the first international fire and rescue sports event hosted by China.
 
The four-day event attracted 320 participants from 11 countries to compete. Nine countries and international organizations, as well as Hong Kong and Macao fire departments, are present as observers.

During the championship, the participating teams will compete in four events for men and women, including climbing hook ladder, fire-fighting 100-meter obstacle course, fire-fighting 4x100-meter relay, and hand-carried mobile pump water shooting targets.
 
The Chinese delegation has sent 10 male and 10 female participants to compete in all events, marking the first appearance of female team members from China at the World Championship.
 
The event is organized by the Ministry of Emergency Management, the National Fire and Rescue Administration, and the People's Government of Heilongjiang province, with the Harbin Municipal People's Government as the organizer.
