The Harbin Gardening Festival has been successfully held five times since 2007. In 2011, the theme of the fifth Harbin Gardening Festival was “Green, Healthy, Harmonious Development”.
It had six display zones, including a gardening achievements show, an organic food tasting area, a wine village, a Tohani private winery, a gardening products show and a grape-picking zone. Future gardening festivals will include another five activities, a vegetable standard park construction, a Beidahuang vegetable and fruit-picking festival, a Heilongjiang village grape-picking festival, the Science and Technology Forum and the Acheng Red Leaves Festival.
Harbin regained the honorary title of "National Civilized City" on Aug 21.
