After a month of construction, the 34th China Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo kicked off on Friday at Sun Island Park in Harbin, Heilongjiang province.

The expo, with an area of 200,000 square meters, is divided into seven parts, providing tourists with a variety of experiences, from snow sculptures to games and winter culture.

Visitors can view groups of sculptures that use more than 55,000 cubic meters of snow. They can also get up close to the sculptures and take part in ice and snow sports, such as sledding and ice skating.

The expo runs from Dec 24 to the end of February. It is one of the most important parts of the city's annual ice and snow festival.

From Dec 24 to 26, tickets are discounted to 100 yuan ($15.70). Discounts will then continue at 160 yuan, less than half the 330 yuan normal price.
