Rich Lantern Festival activities to kick off in Harbin

With the approaching Lantern Festival, which falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month, Harbin, the capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province, will launch a series of activities to add to the festive atmosphere and bring fun to residents and tourists.
 
As a traditional Chinese festival, the Lantern Festival has profound cultural connotations. It conveys people's wishes for a better life.
 
Among the traditions associated with this day, eating yuanxiao while watching the lanterns is a highlight. Tourists can also enjoy the dragon and lion dance performances, as they are also important folk customs.
 
During this year's festival, which will be on Feb 5, rich activities will be held in the Harbin, highlighting the Harbin Ice and Snow World and the Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo.

On the evening of Feb 5, Harbin Ice and Snow World is scheduled to hold a fair involving guessing lantern riddles, lantern exhibitions, and art performances.
 
On Feb 4, the 2023 Harbin National Winter Triathlon Championship will also kick off at the Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo. People can participate in or watch trail running, mountain biking and cross-country skiing competitions.
