The news was announced during a press conference for the China Summer Tourism Development Report, which was held in Lichuan city in Central China's Hubei province on June 26.
A total of 20 prefecture-level cities and 20 county-level cities were awarded the title.
Several reports were unveiled at the conference, including the National Report on the Development of Summer Tourism Cities, the National Study on Summer Tourism Cities in 2023, and the Report on the Current Status and Trends of Media Promotion of Summer Tourism Climate Resources.
One report pointed out that in the past 30 years, as temperatures have slowly been climbing, so too has demand for destinations that let people avoid the baking summer heat.
Attendees concurred that summer tourism is now advancing to a new stage of policy promotion and commercial practices after nearly a decade of explosive growth.
The booming market for summer tourism is serving as a boon for travelers, investors, and market players alike.
