"Intelligent Rail 1" is scheduled to enter its pilot operation stage on July 1, and will be able to carry passengers from August this year, according to Harbin New Area.

Harbin residents can use their city bus cards to take the train when it officially opens to passengers.

Sporting a red and yellow color scheme, "Intelligent Rail" 1 is reportedly warm in winter and cool in summer. It can carry a maximum of 307 passengers and has a top speed of 70 kilometers per hour.

The intelligent train doesn't use physical tracks; it identifies virtual rails through a set of onboard sensors. This function is stable even on icy roads.

The train is "intelligent" in that it can shift lanes or make turns without any human intervention. 

The route of "Intelligent Rail 1" is 11.6 kilometers long, and it will serve nearly 102,000 people in the city. With its daily operation time reaching 14 hours, it's estimated that "Intelligent Rail 1" will facilitate 4 million passenger journeys every year. People can also take it to access Metro Line 2 for a transfer.
