Harbin Electric Corporation, a resident enterprise in Harbin city, contributed to the first ignition of China's domestically developed 300MW F-Class heavy-duty gas turbine on Oct 7 in Lingang, Shanghai.

This achievement marks the completion of the forward design-based manufacturing process for China's high-power, heavy-duty gas turbines, moving it into the whole-machine testing and verification phase.

Harbin Electric Corporation manufactured key components for the prototype, including the combustion chamber.

Heavy-duty gas turbines are essential equipment in the energy sector. They can operate long-term under high temperatures, stress, and corrosive conditions. Developing the 300MW F-Class heavy-duty gas turbine is a major strategic initiative for China.

As the developer of crucial components such as the prototype's combustion chamber, Harbin Electric Turbine Company, a subsidiary of Harbin Electric Corporation, overcame numerous technical and manufacturing challenges.

They tackled critical manufacturing technologies, including thermal barrier coating spraying, transition section film cooling hole drilling, divergent panel forming, hula seal laser welding, cap assembly precision control, and flow detection.

They also addressed manufacturing challenges like flame tube deformation control, transition section welding size control, and combustion chamber trial assembly.

These efforts ensured production progress and product quality, laying a solid foundation for the prototype's successful ignition.
