Harbin offers intangible cultural heritage exhibition

The first Harbin Exhibition of Representative Works of Intangible Cultural Heritage and a related awarding ceremony kicked off on July 31 at the square of the Memorial Tower of Fighting against the Floods of the Songhua River.
The exhibition displayed 78 works of intangible cultural heritage at the national, provincial and municipal levels, including birch bark paintings, fish skin paintings, wood carvings, modeling dough sculptures and decorated eggs. A total of 33 inheritors and representatives of intangible cultural heritage items at the national, provincial and municipal levels were awarded on the occasion. The exhibition attracted nearly 10,000 people.
Sponsors of the exhibition are the Harbin culture, press and publication bureau and the Harbin intangible cultural heritage protection center.
Harbin always attaches great importance to intangible cultural heritage. It has established a storage system of intangible cultural heritage items, which include 102 municipal intangible cultural heritage items, 53 provincial intangible cultural heritage items and three national intangible cultural heritage items. A total of 99 are recognized as representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, and 44 are conferred as cultural heritage protection institutions.
