A new digital intelligent factory officially broke ground in the Harbin Economic Development Zone in the capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province on Sept 10.

Invested by the Harbin Bellevue Pharmaceuticals Co, the project aims to enhance China's independent research and development of new drugs, improve the technological innovation capabilities and international competitiveness of the pharmaceutical industry, and promote the modernization of pharmaceutical manufacturing.

The company's spokesperson stated that the project, with a total investment of 270 million yuan ($38.52 million), will serve as a new highlight of the factory area.

The facilities will cover 7,900 square meters on a total plot encompassing 16,600 sq m.

The project will establish a new high-standard digital pharmaceutical production workshop, an integrated office building, and a fully automated production line for suppositories, as well as quality inspection and R&D equipment.

The project will be built in two phases over three years. It is expected to produce 243 million boxes of suppository drugs annually, and generate an operating income of 1.23 billion yuan.

It is estimated to achieve an average profit of 633 million yuan, and create 300 job opportunities.

Harbin Bellevue Pharmaceuticals Co is currently the only domestic enterprise specializing in the R&D and production of innovative gynecological drugs.

Its innovations in efficacy, dosage form, and application methods have filled the gap in the domestic market in this field, representing the highest production level of gynecological suppositories in China.

The company currently has the capacity to produce 100 million ordinary suppositories and nearly 50 million expanding suppositories for gynecological use per year.

Its products are on sale in 30 provinces nationwide, benefiting more than 100 million people.
