A total of 42 cooperation projects related to the soybean industry were signed at the first China (Heilongjiang) International Green Food and National Soybean Industry Expo, which was held in the provincial capital Harbin on Nov 14-18.

The soybean sector is pushing to promote the integrated development of the entire industry chain based on the concept of "Developing the soybean industry and improving supply capacity”.

The expo focused on key links such as production, processing, marketing, storage, and consumption as it aims to build a new platform for soybean industry development and organize investment promotion and production-sales matchmaking activities.

The signed deals had a contracted amount of 10.62 billion yuan ($1.45 billion), ranging from traditional processing upgrade projects such as refined soybean oil and condiments, to deep-processing projects extending to the higher end of the industrial chain.

These projects cover soybean food, separated protein dietary fiber, protein-expanded powder, and medicinal bioprotein ultrafine powder.

One of the inked agreements saw Cybernaut International Investment Group promise to invest 500 million yuan in Luobei county to fund a 300,000-metric-ton deep-processing soybean project.

Through the use of bio-fermentation industrial technology, it will develop and produce functional soybean products based on natto, filling the gap in the bio-fermentation deep-processing soybean industry in the province.

Meanwhile, Yilei Grain Distribution Co has invested 130 million yuan in Nehe city to develop a deep-processing soybean project, producing medicinal protein ultrafine powder.

Once the project is fully operational and brought to scale, it will produce 10,000 tons of medicinal protein ultrafine powder annually, with a production value of 450 million yuan.
