Harbin Ice and Snow World, a highlight of the annual ice and snow festival in Harbin – capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province – is scheduled to open to the public on Dec 25.

In the first three operating days, all visitors will enjoy a discounted ticket of 100 yuan ($15) per person, compared with the normal ticket price of 180 yuan per person.

This year marks the 23rd anniversary of Harbin Ice and Snow World, which is an entertainment park featuring giant ice buildings built each year during winter.

The 23rd Harbin Ice and Snow World has as its theme "the light of the Winter Olympics shines in the world.”

Cultural and sports elements from the Winter Olympics will be included among the park's structures this year – highlighting the growing excitement about the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics 2022, set to take place on Feb 4-20.

Compared with the parks constructed in previous years, the Harbin Ice and Snow World this year will cover 820,000 square meters, with the use of 230,000 cubic meters of ice and snow.

In addition, the number of ice and snow landscapes will be increased to 65.

Through majestic ice and snow landscapes and dazzling lighting special effects, the park aims to create a magnificent kingdom of ice and snow and convey the spirit of the Winter Olympics.
