Harbin airport passenger volumes rebound

With the normalization of the novel coronavirus epidemic, passenger volumes at Harbin Taiping International Airport -- in China’s northernmost Heilongjiang province -- have steadily rebounded, according to airport officials.

Statistics from Heilongjiang Airport Group showed that from July 1-14, inbound and outbound flights at Harbin airport totaled 3,752 and the passenger volume was 481,252 people, increasing 27.4 percent and 43.9 percent respectively compared with the same period the previous month.

Officials said that performance indicated the airport was at about 70 percent of its pre-COVID-19 passenger level last year.

Meanwhile, the average passenger load factor of flights has also increased, from 29.7 percent to 80 percent during the same period, officials said.

They added that at present, the passenger flow of Harbin airport is mainly for business and tourism purposes.

The flights are mainly to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Kunming, Zhengzhou, Changsha, Tianjin, Jinan, Xiamen, Chengdu and Chongqing.
