Administrative Region

Housing Conditions
2013-05-31With the rapid development of housing security, the urban and rural housing conditions have improved. In 2011, about 103,000 units of different types of housing for local residents were built.

2013-05-31The coverage of welfare and social security continues to increase. The city's total corporate employees participating in basic pension insurance totaled 1.21 million by the end of the year, an increase of 1.8 percent over the previous year.

2013-05-31The government increased relief to poverty-stricken groups. Roughly 198,000 urban residents received minimum life guarantees, down by 9.8 percent. Meanwhile, 181,000 rural residents obtained government minimum life guarantees, an increase of 5.0 percent.

Education
2013-05-31Harbin has 20 graduate colleges catering to53,000 students. There are 49 colleges and universities with 559,000 students. There are 13 adult education colleges with 23,000 students enrolled.
Health
2013-05-31In Harbin, there are 1,641 health institutions (excluding rural health clinics), including 240 hospitals, 193 hospitals and 157 clinics.
Sports
2013-05-31Harbin athletes have won 24 medals at international competitions, including 13 gold medals, seven silver medals and four bronze medals. They have won 120 medals at national competitions, including 49 gold medals, 40 silver medals and 31 copper medals.
